Letter dated 16 February 2026 from the Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People addressed to the President of the General Assembly
I have the honour to inform you that I have received a letter dated 2 February 2026 from the Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the Âé¶¹APP, Andr¨¦s Montalvo Sosa (see annex), conveying the decision of the Government of Ecuador to withdraw from the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, with immediate effect.
On 13 February 2026, I wrote to the members of the Committee to bring the letter to their attention. Accordingly, I should like to suggest that the General Assembly be informed about the aforementioned change in the membership of the Committee.
I should be grateful if you would have the present letter and its annex circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 35.

Letter dated 2 February 2026 from the Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the Âé¶¹APP addressed to the Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People
Upon instructions from my Government, I wish to formally convey the decision of the Government of Ecuador to withdraw from the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, with immediate effect.
This decision is taken without prejudice to Ecuador¡¯s long-standing and consistent position in support of a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the coexistence of two States, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security, in accordance with international law and relevant Âé¶¹APP resolutions.
Ecuador remains firmly committed to the principles of the Charter of the Âé¶¹APP, the promotion of peace and the peaceful settlement of disputes and will continue to support efforts aimed at achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
