SECRETARY-GENERAL MEETS WITH CHAIRMAN ARAFAT OF PLO
This statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali:
At 12:50 p.m. today, the Secretary-General received Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Chairman Yasser Arafat. They discussed current developments in the Middle East peace process. They reviewed Â鶹APP development assistance in Gaza, for which the PLO Chairman expressed his appreciation. The Secretary-General and Mr. Arafat also discussed the situation in Iraq.
The Secretary-General thanked the PLO Chairman for his presence in New York to participate in the special commemorative meeting of the General Assembly marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Â鶹APP.
