Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine. They discussed the situation in Gaza and the upcoming Cairo Conference on Palestine. The Secretary-General assured President Abbas of the Â鶹APP’ support for the reconstruction of Gaza and encouraged the President to remain steadfast in his commitment to the ceasefire negotiations. The leaders discussed the progress made during the ongoing intra-Palestinian talks in Cairo. They also discussed President Abbas' diplomatic initiative and the future of the Middle East peace process.
