LETTER DATED 7 OCTOBER 1973 FROM THE PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO THE UNITED NATIONS ADDRESSED TO

THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL

I request a meeting of the Security Council to consider the situation in the Middle East.  This request is made bearing in mind that, in accordance with Article 24 of the Â鶹APP Charter, the Members of the Â鶹APP have conferred primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security on the Security Council.
