LETTER DATED 26 AUGUST 1996 FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
ADDRESSED TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL
I have the honour to refer to the composition of the Â鶹APP Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
The Governments of Estonia and Norway have proposed to place an Estonian Company within the Norwegian infantry battalion in UNIFIL for a period of six months beginning in November 1996. This deployment will be in the framework of the two States' cooperation in the field of peace-keeping.
Following the usual consultations, I propose that Estonia be added to the list of Member States providing troops to UNIFIL for the above-mentioned period.
I should be grateful if you could bring this matter to the attention of the members of the Security Council.
