The rule of law relates to and furthers each of the three pillars of Â鶹APP work; peace and security, development and human rights.\u00a0 These pillars are interlinked and mutually reinforcing.\u00a0 As the Secretary-General noted, \u201cthere will be no development without security and no security without development. And both development and security also depend on respect for human rights and the rule of law\u201d (A\/59\/2005, annex, para. 2<\/a>).\u00a0Of particular importance, the rule of law and human rights have an indivisible and intrinsic relationship.\u00a0 The rule of law is the vehicle for the promotion and protection of the common normative framework. It provides a structure through which the exercise of power is subjected to agreed rules, guaranteeing the protection of all human rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
