Philemon Yang, met <span style=\"background: white\">H.E. Ambassador Eloy Alfaro de Alba, Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nation<\/span>,\u00a0on 28 July 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;line-height: 20.4pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: black\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\" style=\"margin: 0in;line-height: 20.4pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: black\">The President of the General Assembly and the Ambassador discussed the programme of work for Panama\u2019s upcoming Presidency of the Â鶹APP Security Council, which begins on 1 August 2025. The Ambassador briefed the President of the General Assembly on Panama&#8217;s priorities for their term as a non-permanent member of the Â鶹APP Security Council, and their Presidency, including a signature event on maritime security. They noted the importance of addressing conflict related sexual violence and ensuring gender equality remained a key part of the UN&#8217;s agenda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in;line-height: 20.4pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: black\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\" style=\"margin: 0in;line-height: 20.4pt;text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: black\">The President and the Ambassador further discussed the importance of coordination and collaboration across UN organs, including in the context of the UN80 Initiative.
