Laura Piazza served as an Adviser on Peace and Security in the Office of the President of the 76th session of the General Assembly until 28 February 2022.<\/p>\n
In the 75th Office of the President of the General Assembly, she worked in the Sustainable Development as well as the Human Rights and Humanitarian Team, covering macroeconomic issues including financing for development, infrastructure and challenges of middle-income countries, migration\/refugee issues, Myanmar and racial discrimination. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Before joining the Office of the President of the General Assembly, Laura worked at the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the Â鶹APP, and was engaged in issues related to environment, climate change, water, food security and migration. Furthermore, she was a delegate for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Ivory Coast and Central African Republic and was deployed as a security analyst for the Swiss Military in the NATO\u2019s Kosovo Force (KFOR) Peacekeeping Mission. Previously, she has covered women\u2019s rights topics at the Women\u2019s Initiative for Gender Justice in The Hague, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and in the Social Science Section of the UNESCO office in Beijing.<\/p>\n
Laura holds a Master of Arts in Chinese Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Political Science and Sinology) from the University of Zurich.<\/p>\n
A native German speaker, she is fluent in English, French, Italian and has good knowledge of Mandarin and Finnish.<\/p>\n
