¡°I am looking forward to enhancing my multilateral negotiation skills (consultation, inclusion and solidarity) to maximize my country¡¯s multilateral relations outcomes¡±.

Margaret Tatenda Chikawa is a 2022 Harnessing Opportunities for Promoting Empowerment (HOPE) of Youth Fellow from Zimbabwe.? She is accredited as a Counsellor at the Zimbabwe Permanent Mission to the UN and seconded to the Office of the President of the General Assembly.

Back in Zimbabwe, she is a Principal Administrative Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Her role in the Ministry¡¯s Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate involves policy drafting both at Ministry and at National level. She was part of the team that represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in the drafting of Zimbabwe¡¯s flagship National Development Strategy 1 2021-2025 (NDS1).

Margaret is also the Youth Focal Desk Deputy Chairperson in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

She is looking forward to spending the better part of 2022 learning as much as she can about how the Âé¶¹APP works and sharpening her multilateral skills. Media and communication, as well as multilateral negotiation are among her key interests.

She holds a Bachelor¡¯s degree in Law and International Relations from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
