Marcia Porras is a Senior Adviser for Migration and Disaster Risk Reduction in the Sustainable Development Team of the 76th President of the General Assembly.
Before joining the Office of the President of the General Assembly, Marcia worked at the Permanent Mission of Ecuador to the Office of the Âé¶¹APP in Geneva, covering issues related to migration and refugees¡¯ affairs, and was the focal point for the Chairmanship of Ecuador of the Global Forum on Migration and Development. She also served as a technical focal point in the Steering Group of the Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund.
Previously, she led the legal department of the NGO “Mil Mujeres” in Washington D.C., which provides immigration services to victims of gender-based violence. She is passionate about protecting the rights of all the people on the move.
Marcia is an Ecuadorian Attorney, and she holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law from American University, Washington College of Law.
