Volkan Bozkir, President of the 75th Session of the Â鶹APP General Assembly<\/h3>\n<p><strong><span class=\"updated\">15 September 2020<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Distinguished Delegates,<\/p>\n<p>I am deeply honored to address you all for the first time as the President of the Â鶹APP General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>As a national of a founding Member State, it is a privilege to hold this Office for the 75th Session of the Â鶹APP General Assembly. And I want to thank you for entrusting me with this duty.<\/p>\n<p>Ladies and gentlemen, next week, more Heads of State will address the General Debate than ever before. The crucial High-Level meetings, over two weeks, will guide our work for the session. I will do my utmost to support and lead, with your fruitful participation, the high-level meetings to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UN; the 25th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women; a high-level plenary meeting to commemorate and promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, and the Biodiversity Summit, in addition to the General Debate.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; z_index_tablet=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>During the 75th Session, we will hold two General Assembly Special Sessions, one on COVID \u2013 the first Special Session convened to discuss a pandemic \u2013 and the second against corruption.<\/p>\n<p>I will also work with you to successfully implement the various mandates entrusted to me, including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy<\/li>\n<li>Commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the World Summit for Social Development<\/li>\n<li>Preparations for the for the Fifth Â鶹APP Conference on Least Developed Countries<\/li>\n<li>High-level meeting regarding water-related goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda<\/li>\n<li>Oceans Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14<\/li>\n<li>As well as the revitalization of the work of the General Assembly and Security Council reform<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As long as the health conditions allow, I intend to continue physical meetings of the General Assembly, taking the necessary mitigation measures to protect the health and safety of delegates and UN staff.
