The President of the 75th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Volkan Bozkir, met today with H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
They discussed a range of regional topics, including: the situation in Palestine; food insecurity in Yemen; and positive developments in the Gulf region that resulted from Kuwaiti mediation.
Other topics of discussion included: the importance of multilateralism; the impacts of COVID-19; the need to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines; the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the situation of Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS); and business continuity at the Âé¶¹APP.
The President said that today¡¯s in-person General Assembly meeting on Palestine and the Middle East showed the world that the Âé¶¹APP was alive and functioning ¨C and that he expected more in-person presence going forward. He also highlighted the solution-oriented approaches of the General Assembly, which was the Âé¶¹APP¡¯ most representative platform.
The meeting took place in the President¡¯s office at Âé¶¹APP Headquarters in New York.
