Political Coordinator and Senior Adviser<\/span>\u00a0| Political Issues<\/span><\/h3>\n\nMohd Hafiz Othman is the political coordinator and a senior adviser on political issues (peace, security, legal, humanitarian, migration and refugees) in the Office of the President of the 73rd Session of the Â鶹APP General Assembly.<\/p>\n
A Malaysian diplomat, he joined Malaysia\u2019s foreign service in 2005, where he held different positions in the bilateral affairs department, namely Southeast Asia division, West Asia division and Americas division. He also held the position of the director of policy planning department of the Ministry.<\/p>\n
Before joining the office of the President, he served as the principal assistant secretary of the multilateral political division of the department of multilateral affairs in the Foreign Ministry. He was responsible for formulating and coordinating Malaysia’s national position at the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 (G77). He was also responsible for peace and security issues such as decolonization, peacebuilding, peacekeeping, Rohingya and State of Palestine. His last assignment abroad was as the Charg\u00e9 d’affaires\/ Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n
Hafiz holds a Masters degree in Public Management from the National University of Singapore. He was also a Lee Kuan Yew fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, in 2017.<\/p>\n
He speaks Malay, English and Spanish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
