 <\/p>\n

Margo Deiye is a Senior Adviser in the Development, Climate and Migration team in the Office of the President of the 72nd<\/sup> Session of the Â鶹APP General Assembly. She is the focal point on issues related\u00a0to the Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee), in particular on macroeconomic issues including financing, trade, debt, quadrennial comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and oceans. Margo also serves as the liaison with the Asia-Pacific group.<\/p>\n

Before joining the Office of the President of the General Assembly, she\u00a0served as the Third Secretary and Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Nauru to the Â鶹APP, in New York from 2012 to 2017, mainly covering Second Committee and SIDS issues. During this time, Margo chaired the Working Group of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) and Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS) and served as lead negotiator for issues related to sustainable development, including 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also led on oceans issues, including sustainable fisheries, Oceans Omnibus and the work on an internationally legally binding instrument on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction (BBNJ). Additionally, Margo was elected and served on the Bureau of the BBNJ preparatory committee as a representative for the Asia-Pacific Group.<\/p>\n

Margo worked for the Ministry of Fisheries of Nauru for five years before joining the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Nauru in 2012.<\/p>\n

Ambreen Fatima Anwar Husain is an intern with the Office of the President of the 71st Session of the Â鶹APP General Assembly, New York, focusing on political issues. She is a graduate of Dr. RML National Law University, India, with a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Prior to her internship with the Office of the President of the General Assembly, Ambreen worked at an Intellectual Property law firm in India, with a particular focus on trade marks. While pursuing her Bachelor\u2019s course, she interned with the Women\u2019s Rights Cell of Lawyer\u2019s Collective, where she analyzed the trends in judicial announcements relating to the law of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence. While pursuing \u00a0additional internships in areas varying from intellectual property rights and corporate law to human rights law, she developed her skills in research and writing.
