{"id":78164,"date":"2016-10-24T15:11:41","date_gmt":"2016-10-24T19:11:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/71\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=78164"},"modified":"2016-11-15T16:41:38","modified_gmt":"2016-11-15T21:41:38","slug":"cop-22","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/71\/event-latest\/cop-22\/","title":{"rendered":"COP 22"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">At the Marrakech Climate Change Conference &#8211; November 2016 (7-18 November), nations of the world will continue their work on strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, with the central focus placed on enhancing ambition, promoting implementation and providing support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Marrakech also marks a turning point because the landmark Paris Climate Change Agreement will <a title=\"Paris Agreement enters into force\" href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.unfccc.int\/unfccc-newsroom\/landmark-climate-change-agreement-to-enter-into-force\/\" target=\"_blank\">enter into force<\/a>\u00a0during the conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Strengthening action on mitigation and adaptation by all Parties before 2020, governments will make concerted efforts in Marrakech to support domestic action that will give effect to nationally determined contributions, combined with collaborative initiatives as part of an intensified Global Climate Action with non-state actors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">At the Marrakech Conference, countries around the world will also work hard to put in place measures for strengthening appropriate financial flows, a new technology framework and an enhanced capacity building framework as envisioned in the Paris Agreement with a view to supporting action by developing countries and the most vulnerable countries, in line with their own national objectives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">For an <strong>overview schedule<\/strong> of the two weeks of the conference,<a title=\"Overview Schedule\" href=\"http:\/\/unfccc.int\/files\/meetings\/marrakech_nov_2016\/application\/pdf\/overview_schedule_marrakech.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"> please see here<\/a>. Please note that the schedule aims at helping participants to prepare for the sessions and does not prejudge any procedural decisions to be taken by the negotiating bodies. It is indicative and will be updated with new information as it becomes available.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Entry into force of the Paris Agreement triggers a variety of important consequences, including launch of the Agreement\u2019s governing body, known as the CMA. In the parlance of the UN climate change process this stands for the Conference of the Parties to the Convention serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement. Precise dates will be announced in the coming days.
