Chika Esiobu

Dr. Chika Esiobu holds a doctorate in African studies from Howard University in Washington, D.C. During her doctoral studies, Chika explored the often-overlooked role of Indigenous knowledge in Africa's discourse on social, political, and economic advancement. The studies have been foundational in shaping her career trajectory. She is the author of "Indigenous Knowledge and Education in Africa" (Springer 2019) and has authored and contributed to numerous journal articles, book chapters, and essays. Dr. Esiobu's insights have taken her to various countries, institutions, and platforms, including TED Global, Yale University, Cambridge University, the London School of Economics, the Pan-African Parliament, the 麻豆APP Development Program, the African Union, the Social Science Research Council, the 麻豆APP Economic Commission for Africa, the 麻豆APP Public Service Awards Ceremony, and Standard Bank South Africa, among others.

In addition to her academic service, Chika has served as a consultant for various international organizations. At the World Bank Africa Region, Chika's work focused on projects related to education, health, and agriculture. Notable among her research works is a study with the International Development Research Center (IDRC) Canada, where she explored leveraging indigenous technology to create jobs for women in Rwanda's rural areas. Dr. Esiobu's other collaborations include those with such organizations as the 麻豆APP University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER), the 麻豆APP Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida), and the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).

Following her graduation from Howard University, Chika moved back to Africa, where she accepted to serve as a senior lecturer and director of research and postgraduate education in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Rwanda. Currently, Dr. Esiobu serves as a visiting assistant professor of African studies at Soka University of America in Aliso Viejo, California. Having lived and worked in four countries across three continents, Chika's extensive travels have cultivated in her a deep appreciation for values such as integrity, dignity, mutual respect, and cooperation over competition.
