Focusing on community-to-community transfer of local knowledge, the programme advanced community-based responses that strengthened the prevention, care and awareness of HIV/AIDS, as well as empowered mobile communities to come together to address other cross-cutting issues such as illiteracy, poverty, environmental degradation, and drug and alcohol abuse.
