About Football For The Goals
Football for the Goals (FFTG) is a Â鶹APP initiative that harnesses the unifying power and worldwide reach of football to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inspire real change across the sport.
This UN-led and managed movement goes beyond advocacy. It challenges the global football community to lead by example through adopting more sustainable practices, advancing human rights, and using their platforms to promote positive change.
Who Can Join
We invite a wide range of football organizations to become part of FFTG, including:
- Confederations and national associations
- Leagues and clubs
- Players¡¯ associations
- Fan organizations
- Foundations and NGOs working with football
- Football¡¯s media and commercial partners
- Private sector companies linked to football
By joining, members* of Football for the Goals commit to the following principles across their business practices and in their advocacy with stakeholders, as well as media and commercial partners and sponsors:
- Sustainability policies and practices
- Implementing and advocating for the SDGs
- A human rights-based approach, including in addressing issues of discrimination and avoiding discriminatory practices
- Equality and equity, including gender
- Climate action
Why Football?
Football is more than a game. It is a global force which connects billions. From the visibility of international tournaments to the influence of players and the passion of fans, football offers unmatched potential to spread messages, inspire action, and shift behaviour on a global scale to advance the SDGs.

Not only is football the most popular sport in the world, it is also the most accessible,¡± said Amina J. Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General, at the launch of the FFTG initiative in 2022.
