Ronald Pierre, 1975 - 2010

Driver for Political Affairs and Planning Division (Haiti)

Mr. Ronald Pierre

Ronald Pierre, a national of Haiti, worked as a driver for the Political Affairs and Planning Division of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

Ronald attended Institution Mixte St-Joseph in P¨¦tionville and the Coll¨¨ge Canado-Ha?tien in Port-au-Prince.

Prior to joining the UN, Ronald was a chauffeur for Alimentario Market, the Civil Military Operations Center for the United States and a number of private clients.

A colleague described Ronald as a hard worker with a strong character, intelligent, quiet and shy. His friend called him ¡°the solution man¡± because ¡°no work was too much and he never complained.¡±

A former friend and colleague said of Ronald, ¡°Although I knew him for only a short time, we really got on. He had a very efficient, composed and professional manner.¡±

¡°Ronald loved to have his Creole radio channels blaring in the car with Caribbean music or talk shows in Creole,¡± the friend said, adding: ¡°he also knew every back road in Port-au-Prince so that he could avoid the terrible traffic jams.¡±

Another friend said, ¡°Ronald was definitely quite a reserved person, but his face cracked into a big smile when we talked about his children. It was clear that he loved his children very much.¡±

Ronald is survived by his wife Valesca, and their two children Charly Sebastien, almost 3 years old, and Charlie Saskia, one and a half.
