On the sidelines of the Summit at the SDG Media Zone, Carl Skau of the World Food Programme (right) spoke to the Director of the UN's News and Media Division, Ian Phillips, about the escalating needs faced by the world's hungry: "We are in a situation where our needs are going up and funding are going down and the forecast for '24 looks even more dire. I recently visited Syria. It is heartbreaking meeting women, who told frankly it was better during the war, the bombs were dropping on them, but they had food."
It's the first fully in-person General Assembly session since the pandemic and the media is on hand in the storied GA hall to document the summit. More than 3,000 members of the media have been registered to attend.
