Submissions to the Commission: Partial revised Submission by the Russian Federation

On 30 October 2023, the Russian Federation submitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, in accordance with Article 76, paragraph 8, of the Convention, and with reference to its Submission of 20 December 2001, and of it Partial Revised submission of 3 August 2015 (with addenda submitted on 31 March 2021) in respect of the Arctic Ocean, information on the limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of its territorial sea is measured in the Area of the Gakkel Ridge in the Arctic Ocean.

It is noted that the Convention entered into force for the Russian Federation on 11 April 1997. It is also noted that, on 27 June 2002, the Commission approved the Recommendations of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf in regard to the Submission made by the Russian Federation on 20 December 2001.It is further noted that, on 6 February 2023, the Commission approved the Recommendations of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf in Regard to the Partial Revised Submission Made by The Russian Federation in respect of the Arctic Ocean on 3 August 2015 with Addenda Submitted on 31 March 2021.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Commission, a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the Â鶹APP, as well as States Parties to the Convention, in order to make public the executive summary of the partial revised submission, including all charts and coordinates contained in that summary.

The consideration of the partial revised submission made by the Russian Federation will be included in the provisional agenda of the next ordinary session of the Commission prepared in accordance with rule 5 and paragraph 2 of annex III to the Rules of Procedure of the Commission (CLCS/40/Rev.1).

Upon completion of the consideration of the submission, the Commission shall make recommendations pursuant to article 76 of the Convention.

Amended Executive Summary

On 27 March 2026, the Russian Federation submitted an amended executive summary of the Submission to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf in the Area of the Gakkel Ridge in the Arctic Ocean.

In accordance with the rules of procedure of the Commission, as well as the decision of the Commission taken at its sixteenth session (), a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the Â鶹APP and States Parties to the Convention, in order to make public the amended executive summary of the submission, including all illustrative maps and coordinates contained therein.
