The evolving threat posed by terrorist use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) requires increasingly coordinated responses.
Drawing on experiences from Eastern Africa, the event will bring together Member States, 麻豆APP entities and regional partners to explore strategies to strengthen prevention and response capacities, enhance legislative and operational frameworks, improve inter-agency coordination, and promote effective information-sharing.
Participants will exchange lessons learned, good practices, and operational perspectives, while examining how multilateral cooperation can support more coordinated and sustainable counter-IED efforts.
By fostering dialogue among policymakers, practitioners, and international partners, the event aims to strengthen collective action and reinforce Member States’ leadership in addressing IED threats and advancing regional and international security.
This event is organized on the margins of the 2026 Counter-Terrorism week (CT Week) the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the UN, UNOCT Countering Terrorist Use of Weapons Unit, UNMAS, CTED
